The Regional Committee of South Wales was founded in Cardiff the capital of South Wales. Soon After the Central Committee was founded in 1993. The first committee was elected in a meeting which was presided by Mr Md Feroz, Alhaj Abdul Mazid Chair, Shofiqur Rahaman Secretary, Shofique Rahman Sundar Treasurer, In presence of Central leaders.

In the BGM of 1995 Md Feruj chair, Shofiqur Rahman Secretary, Abdul Ahad Treasurer were elected respectabily. Mk Faruq Chair, Monsur Ahmed Mokis Secretary and Sheikh Md Anwar Treasurer were elected in 1998 BGM. In 2001 the same committee was re-elected. In 2004 Mosur Ahmed Mokis Chair, Harun Abdur Rahsid Secretar and Tufayel Ahmed Topu Treasurer. In 2007 Monsur Ahmed Mokis was re-elected chair, Sheikh Mohammed Anwar Secretary and Abul Kalam Mumin Treasurer.

The South Wales Region always tried to keep the continuation of activities throguhtout the years, we celebrate with all the national and international events, such as Independence Day, Victory day, International Mother Tongue Day, Iftar Party, Surat Miah Matyr Day. etc.

We take part very activley in the voting rights movement for the NRB, and tipai mukh dam, NRB sufferings and harrasment in Airports and inside Bangladesh along with other programmes, called by the GSC Central Committee. We have good relation with other voluntary organisation working in Cardiff and South Wales. We attended the BGM 2008, view exchange meeting with the newly appointed British High Commisisioner in Dhaka Mr Stephen J Evans, Mr Iftkhar Chowdhury the foreign advisor of the care taker government, election comminsioners Mr Sohul Husssain, and Brigrade (Rtd) Shakawath Husssain.

Mr Monsur Ahmed Mokis, visited Bangladesh in 2009, with a delegation met the Prime Minister honorable Sheikh Hasina on 22nd July and his excellency the honaroble President Zillur Rahman on 5th August and handed over a memorandum. He also meet with the law minister, speaker, chief whip and other responsible personnels and called a press conference in Dhaka for the NRB demands.

We responded very well in the call for SIDR and Flood releif appeal by the GSC where we collected £5000 pounds and deposited to GSC relfief Fund it was the credit of Mr Mosur Ahmed Mokis and his team, nameley Secretary Sheikh Md Anwar, Treasurer Abul Kalam Mumin and others. I like to thank espeically to the propertier of Lee Raj resturantant Mr Afjol Khan Mitu, Md Mujib prop of Balti emperor, MR A Latif Kaiser Businessman of Swansea, Badsha Miah of Newport, Syed Asiat Ali of Bridgen, Sheikh Md Taher Ullah of Newport, Abdur Rahman Mona of Port Talbot for the contribution and co-operation.

To conduct the activities properlly is the main tasks of the organisation with out doing anything holding the post for nothing, is useless for community. The GSC south wales region is always in business from the begining till today, it is the result of our hard working leaders. who were in postion in past and who are in responisbilty in present. I have to pay my gratitude to our ex-chair Mr Monsur Ahmed Mokis and the whole team for which we achieved the best regional award in 2008 BGM. I thank everybody for re-electing me as general secretary and i seek everyones co-operation with thanks.
